It’s hard to believe how fast our trip to Colorado flew by. Now that we’re back I’ve had a chance to go through my pics and notes and I’m ready to share some of the trail highlights.
North Table Mountain
I sorta stumbled onto this mountain bike trail mostly by accident and I’m glad I did. After my visit with Spot Bikes in Golden I had some time on my hands and notic…

Simon L. (aka Ess) is a designer who is working on an interesting aerodynamic frame design. His blog is chronicling the development of the bike, which features openings in the head and seat tubes to allow air to pass through.
In one of his posts, Ess lists a few of the design details that help to minimize the bike’s frontal area:
1. The frame is hollow with open front and b…

This little nugget of insanity comes from a featured picture set on English Russia. I don’t know if this woman ever thought she’d be biking down the aisle to the tune of “Here comes the ride,” but apparently she is enjoying the experience.
Tandem for two found on Grazier Photgraphy.
After seeing these pictures, I began to do a little bit of research and was surprised to f…
Drift Innovation X170 Action Camera Review
![]()
The Drift Innovation X170 cam is a recent addition to the world of portable cameras for action sports. I found this camera to be flexible, easy to use, and a really fun way capture my moments on the mountain bike trail.
For starters I really appreciated the mounting options included with the camera: a small velcro strap mount, a handlebar mount, a multi-purpose elastic band mount, and two or…
Trestle Mountain Bike Park Trip Report
![]()
On Tuesday mudhunny and I drove out to Winter Park, CO to ride the lift-serviced mountain bike trails and we had an incredible time. Admittedly we’re both cross-country riders and although we had ridden trails at Keystone and Northstar, the trails at Winter Park’s Trestle Mountain Bike Park gave us a whole new appreciation for the thrill of downhill mountain biking.
We arrived at the …
Bicycling Science book giveaway
![]()
Looking back at the reports for the Bicycle Design Amazon store, it is clear that the book Bicycling Science is the best seller of the items I have listed. I am glad to see that, because it is definitely the first book that I would recommend to anyone interested in the design and engineering of bicycles (followed by Archibald Sharpe’s 1896 Bicycles and Tricycles). Originally…

Back in May I wrote about the high performance Race Face Respond crankset which really exceeded my expectations for the price range. Now I’ve had a chance to test other components in the Respond group and I’m ready to share my reviews. For me nothing beats setting up a bike all with a single component group because it gives the bike a nice clean look with matching graphics. In additio…
