DIY Series: The Typical Tune Up- Wheel Adjustments Part II
Now with the wheels trued, lets check on that wheel bearing adjustment. Keep in mind that we determined whether or not we needed adjustments here back in the Diagnosis phase. (Click here for Diagnosis)

The Crankbrothers recently got into the wheel business and after previewing the Cobalt wheelset at Interbike back in September we knew we had to try them out. Sure, the wheels look pretty (they’re made by the Crankbros. after all) but we wanted to know how they would perform on the trail - fortunately we weren’t disappointed.
The first thing you’ll notice when looking at a set o…

After recently discovering that my semi-slick tires were hopelessly full of dry rot (see photo - not for the squeamish!) I started looking around for a good set of mountain bike tires with low rolling resistance. Luckily I found the Tinker Juarez Signature Series “Dred Tread” tires from Kenda that blend the best of both worlds: low resistance with wicked control through turns and clim…

We’ve heard this question more than a few times on our GPS forums: Which GPS is best for mountain biking AND everything else (like hiking, driving, etc.)? Garmin addressed the question on their very own blog and despite the fact their recommendations are all Garmin units (image that ) it’s actually a helpful post for anyone considering a do-all GPS unit for mountain biking+. Sugoi Wallaroo wool jersey review
![]()
More than anything else, getting out and riding during the winter is simply a matter of having the right clothes. Sure, you could throw on two pairs of sweatpants and your ski jacket to stay toasty on the trail but you probably won’t be comfortable. Instead I decided to check out a merino wool jersey from Sugoi to see how they stood up to cold, damp January riding conditions.
The Sugoi Wall…

Continuing on with our series on The Typical Tune Up, we now move into the adjustment phase. Today, we will take a look at truing you wheels.
A Couple Of Notes First: If you do not own or have access to a truing stand, then leave your wheels in your bike, and use the brake pads as your “indicators”. If you have a disc only rig, you can try clamping on a common clothes pin to the seat…

Each member will race and represent GT Bicycles and the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) at a minimum of six mountain bike races during the 2009 season.
