thumb.weezer-red-album.jpgLooking for some songs to get stuck in your head for the next time you’re out on the trail? Here are some recommendations:
Weezer - Weezer (Red Album)

The guys are back with a brand new album and this time lead singer Rivers Cuomo shares the mike with some of the other guys in the band. I started mountain biking in the early 1990s around the time Weezer first came onto the scene so there…

Two bike pics

thumb.huge-bike.jpg100km.us posted a couple good pics and links last week that you may have missed.

via lifeinthefastlane.ca
Yep, that’s El Diablo, the crazy Tour de France dude, on top of an ENORMOUS bike. No word on whether El Diablo plans a mountain bike version but I’m pretty sure you’d have to keep this baby above the tree line to avoid being clothes-lined. Check out the web link below the pi…

Tanasi MTB Trail Report

;)This weekend mudhunny and I drove up to the IMBA-certified EPIC Tanasi trails just over the Georgia border in southeastern Tennessee. The trailhead is located at the Ocoee Whitewater Center, site of the 1996 Olympic canoe and kayak slalom competition and as we unpacked our gear we watched dozens of cheering rafters navigate the surf. Mountain bike fishing

thumb.fishing-pole-bike-holder.gifWe wrote about mountain bike hunting last fall so I guess we should have seen this coming: mountain bike fishing. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette posted an article about the phenomenon that’s gaining traction in Western Pennsylvania. Of course the trails these mountain bike anglers ride aren’t what you’d call technical but they’re certainly wooded and remote meaning the mountai…

Chinese Mountain Bike Tours

The Shanghaiist had a good article about a group mountain bike tour outside the city of Shanghai near a “village” called Yiwu. If you think it’s a hassle for you to get out for a weekend ride because there aren’t any trails near your house, this article will make you realize how lucky you really are. The author makes it clear that just getting outside the city of Shanghaii …

Learning how to land big mountain bike jumps

thumb.big-air-mtb.jpgA few weeks back a friend and I were discussing big mountain bike jumps and how people learn to land them. I mean, we’ve all seen skills areas with progressively larger jumps but how do you go from a 4 foot jump to a 50 foot drop like the one at Santos? (pictured below) I think I may have found an answer and it involves gymnastics equipment.

Whistler Mountain Bike Park has set up the Air Do…

These days folks are making holsters and mounts for just about everything you might want to carry on your bike: iPod, cell phone, GPS, lights, water bottles, tool bags, etc. One holster you may not have seen (unless you looked closely at page 38 in last month’s Mountain Bike magazine) is the Ahearne Spaceman Flask Holder from custom bike maker Ahearne Cycles.
The flask holster is designed t…
