Buy my Garmin Edge 205 GPS & get free membership
![]()
I’m selling my beloved (and gently used) Garmin Edge 205 GPS on eBay and I’m throwing in a free 1-year full access singletracks membership to the winning bidder. If you’ve read my review of the Edge 205 you know I love the Edge but you’ll also know I already upgraded to the more expensive 305. I literally used the GPS 3 times (twice on the trail, once on the road) and it e…

We finally sent our first email newsletter to singletracks members yesterday afternoon and the response has been great so far. To get the newsletter you need to have 1. signed up for a singletracks account, 2. opted-in for our email list and 3. have signed in to the singletracks website at least once. When all was said and done about 15% of our registered users actually made the list.
Despite our …
Friday links
I am in a hurry today, but I want to quickly pass along a few links of interest.Check out the Trek Lime blog for an interesting podcast. Trek used Solidworks software in the development of the Lime, so the folks at Solidworks talked to Trek’s senior industrial designer Hans Eckholm about the design of the bike.Quickrelease.tv has a great YouTube video clip from the Taipei bike show that features b…
What kind of bikes can change the world?
I was going to post something else today, but an anonymous comment left in response to my last post got my attention:“The Bicycles that can change the world are not made of carbon, do not have aero spokes, do not have 10 speed drivetrains. More likely, they are closer to the Atlas bike I road recently in India: Heavy, slow, indestructable. To a racer, might seem like a toy. To someone who cares …
Don’t Wait to Plan Your Summer
A few good mountain bike trips can turn an ordinary summer into an exceptional one. While spontaneous trips are usually a great time, it’s the trips that you plan into…Original post by Tim Grahl
No commentsWait for the mountain bike trails to dry before you ride
Edward McIlvain posted a convincing column yesterday over at YourHub.com about riding on wet mountain bike trails in the Golden/Denver area. I’m certainly guilty of trying to get out too early after a rain storm (we don’t have much snow down here) but the short term enjoyment quickly fades as the long term consequences become apparent. Aside from junking the trails for people who ride…
Do flat handlebars suck for climbing?
I’ve been spending a lot of time lately on my Redline 925 commuting to work. The bike is equipped with mustache handlebars.
It’s the first time I’ve ridden anything but flat handlebars and I’ve really enjoyed the leverage I can get on a good grind up a hill. Today I was out riding the singlespeed Rig at a local trail with plenty of steep climbs. When I stood up to smash…
No commentsThe $242 track stand
![]()
Learning to track stand on your mountain or road bike takes practice and it’s tough for most people to hold steady for more than a few seconds. One rider in Oregon, however, learned it’s also expensive to do a track stand when he got a $242 traffic ticket for his performance at a traffic light.
Has anyone else ever heard that track standing at a stoplight is illegal?

Garmin Edge 305 review: Sweet but spendy
If you’re a regular reader of this blog you’ll remember that just 2 weeks ago I posted a glowing review of the Garmin Edge 205. I was so smitten, in fact, that I immediately decided I needed to buy the Garmin Edge 305 so I could experience the best of the best. This weekend I put the Edge 305 into action and I must say, I’m not sure the Edge 305 is worth the price, especially whe…
